Paul Seed, United Way’s 2011 Campaign Chair and President of Startech.com was full of good news on Monday when he updated the community on the progress of the 2011 United Way London & Middlesex Campaign. “Our Campaign Goal of $8.5 million is aggressive, but results to date are promising with more than $2.2 million raised to date,” Seed shared.
Seed went on to give details of the 2011 Leadership Challenge Grant. For 2011, eleven donors have committed a record $360,000 in the form of a Leadership Challenge Grant. Last year, four donors contributed $250,000 for a Leadership Challenge Grant that was successfully matched by our community in five short weeks.
The Challenge Grant will match dollar-for-dollar new contributions in excess of $1,000, essentially doubling donations. In the midst of increasing social needs in our community, the Leadership Challenge Grant is a significant boost to the 2011 Campaign and could, when matched, potentially total an additional $720,000 investment for people who need it the most.
