One donation. Double the impact.

The Challenge is on.
Thanks to the generosity and leadership of a local donor, who wishes to remain anonymous, the people of London and Middlesex County have the opportunity to double the impact of their donation to the United Way Campaign.
In the midst of a challenging economy, the Leadership Challenge Grant is a significant boost to the 2009 Campaign and could potentially total an additional $200,000 community investment.
The Leadership Challenge Grant provides up to $100,000 in matching funds for all new Leadership gifts to the 2009 Campaign. A leadership gift is any donation $1,000 or more.
“More than ever the needs in our community are great,” says Andrew Lockie, United Way’s CEO. “With the current state of the economy we knew that making our goal would be a significant challenge. It is our hope and belief that this Challenge Grant will be a strong motivator to those who are able to give at a Leadership level – it’s essentially doubling your donation and therefore the impact you can have on your community.”
How it works
Any new Leadership gift pledged on or after Monday, November 23, 2009 will be matched dollar-for-dollar.
If you have already donated to the 2009 Campaign, but not at the Leadership level, you can still take advantage of the Challenge. Any new pledge made on or after Monday, November 23, that brings your 2009 donation to $1,000 or more will be matched. For example, if you already gave $700 to the 2009 United Way Campaign, giving an additional $300 to make a total of $1,000 means United Way will receive the full $1,000 match.
